It was another amazing night in the Smokey Mountain National Park viewing the synchronous fireflies. Thanks to Michael Wall and the excellent team at the Trust for arranging the visit. The ladies (maybe some guys helped but I doubt it!) prepared a tasty repast for an ad-hoc pot luck before darkness and the insectoid show.
As Michael pointed out, photographing fireflies is very hard. I figured my knowledge of astrophotography would come in handy but despite taking over 300 shots, I got some ok photos with a little help from Photoshop. They really did flash but my attempt to make a time lapse movie were for naught. The are just multiple 5-30s exposures taken with a Canon R6 and wide angle lens and stacked in Photoshop.
