Have you tried to dim the display on your bedside clock only to find out its still way to bright? I guess this is tangentially related to astronomy as we all strive to reduce unnecessary indoor lighting in case we jump out of bed to see a meteor shower. I found this neutral density film to be just the trick. It adhesive so you can cut it to size and just stick it on the display or if you are a gadget geek you can open it up (unplug first!) and paste it on the inside of the plastic filter in front of the display. I have lots of extra material if anyone wants to try it or you can order from Amazon here.
