Countdown to the 2017 total solar eclipse

Hi everyone. Its been a while since I posted. After fixing a bug that was causing outbound emails to be blocked, I am back!

Its time to get ready for the total solar eclipse. Eight weeks from tomorrow starting at just after 1:00 PM on August 21st, the first total solar eclipse visible across multiple states in 100 years will be visible from Balsam Mountain Preserve. Final details will come out later this week but I wanted to start whetting your appetite with the photo below showing snapshots of a total eclipse from first contact (when the moon just starts to block a slice of the sun) through totality when the sun is totally blocked and ending in last contact. We will have an educational event the weekend before the eclipse and will have at least one observing site set up with safe viewing glasses. Stay tuned for more!
