If the weather cooperates this weekend be sure the check out the march of planets in the morning sky. Details of what it will look like here.
Way behind once again this month. My official excuse is that I just returned from the 10th annual Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF). Its the largest gathering of amateur astronomers in the country. This year there were about 4500 attendees at the event held at Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY. Lots of great sessions on all aspects of astronomy, especially astrophotography. See photos below of interesting telescopes along with a nice birds of prey exhibit for the kids. I did succumb to the buying temptation and purchased a few accessories for Dogstar Observatory. Be sure to stop by this spring or summer. For more photos and coverage of the event check out this link:

One item of note to convey to your grand kids – Caroline Moore (daughter of the conference organizer Bob Moore) is the youngest person ever to discover a supernova!

Not too much going on in the skies this month other than some good planet viewing opportunities. Check out Saturn all month high in the east after sunset. At the end of April and in early May there will be a great grouping after sunrise of a crescent moon, mars, mercury and venus. I will publish more details later.
